DiGi has recently updated their DG Smart Plan offerings again. Gone are their old RM48, RM68 and RM88 offerings for 1GB, 3GB and 5GB data respectively.
Their latest offering is for RM58 and RM88 only which comes with 2GB and 4GB respectively. The difference is that DiGi’s latest offering comes with free DiGi-to-DiGi SMS and minutes in the amount of 200 SMS and minutes for the RM58 while the RM88 plan comes with 300 SMS and minutes to any network.
This also affects their device offerings as well. The Nexus 4, which previously went for RM1499 regardless of plan has been repackaged with the latest plans. Now, the Nexus 4 is going for RM1169 with a 2 year RM58 plan. This also includes a RM10 monthly rebate for the whole duration. This adds up to a RM720 rebate overall (RM480 + RM10 x 24).
Those going for the Nexus 4 with a 2 year RM88 plan, the device is available for only RM929 with a RM20 monthly rebate. This becomes a RM1200 rebate (RM720 + RM20 x 24). At least now, the Nexus 4 becomes a more viable option for those who want to get it from DiGi.
For better or for worse, all other device offerings from DiGi have also undergone updates to the latest DG Smart Plans so do check DiGi’s website for more information. DiGi’s supplementary Smart Plan, DG Smart Family has also been updated to have 600MB free data for RM28 while still having no free minutes or SMS aside from the free amount between family lines.
Lastly, take note that all DiGi plans now come with only 6 months RM5 rebate for those signing up for credit card auto-billing.
DiGi, being the sole network provider that has the Nexus 4, is being quite happily pricing the phone as they like. Unfortunately, not many consumers like their plans. To make it seem more appealing, they have kept expanding the range of plans they offer.
After AP availability of the LG Nexus 4 with Android JellyBean 4.2 at RM1899 previously, it has currently undergone a price drop to RM1699. With DiGi selling the phone for RM1499 with a 2 year RM63 smart plan (RM88 with RM25 discount), one could consider the RM1699 phone and stick with their current plan. I had expected this price drop and I do anticipate further price drops after the official launch so it may be wiser yet to continue waiting.
If the phone drops below RM1500, that’s the time that I will give it some serious thought.
After a long wait, at last DiGi has revealed their preorder information for the much wanted Android JellyBean 4.2 LG Nexus 4. This reveals the RRP for the Nexus 4 16GB to be RM1649 and unsurprisingly, you don’t really save much with the DiGi plan as the phone will still cost you RM1499. You do get some rebates on the plan though. Read more below.
