As the LG Nexus 4 approaches release in the US, here in Malaysia, we are waiting anxiously to see when and what prices will this beast come with. Today’s short roundup contains some news and some rumors for Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. If you’re among the citizens of these countries and are interested on getting your hands on a LG Nexus 4, stay tuned!
Let’s start off with Malaysia. As I have mentioned in my previous post, there is a rumor spreading that pricing for the Malaysia LG Nexus 4 will be somewhere around the RM2000 range. This is a terrible mistake in my opinion. While no further rumor or news on the pricing has been revealed, LG Malaysia seems to have confirmed that the LG Nexus 4 will indeed be hitting Malaysian shores in December 2012 or “Christmas” as they said. Pricing is yet to be determined, so there’s probably hope yet that prices will be lower than the outrageous RM2000 and above.
Across the border at Singapore, the LG Singapore Facebook account mentions that the warranty for Nexus 4 is applicable even if you bought the device from Google Play Store or other countries. This implies that the Nexus 4, like Asus Nexus 7 and other Asus devices, offers international warranty, which is great. This makes it possible for you to purchase the device from US and still have it covered under warranty in Malaysia or anywhere else.
In other Singapore related Nexus 4 news, there is a seller in one of their forums who are accepting mass orders for the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 3G and Nexus 10. Interested parties will have to put in a deposit and places are very limited. So far, it seems that they are taking in about 60 orders for Nexus 4, 40 for Nexus 10 and 20 for Nexus 7 3G. Interest in Nexus products does appear to be sky high as ordering for all devices have been closed since. The interesting thing is that this seller is listing the Nexus 4 prices as SGD470 for the 8GB model and SGD530 for the 16GB model. This roughly translates to around RM1176 and RM1326 respectively. This isn’t a bad price at all! Hopefully, this price will be what we see when the device is brought in to Malaysia.
Lastly, Denny Muliawardana, the sales head of LG Mobile Indonesia, has confirmed that the LG Nexus 4 will indeed be hitting stores in Indonesia by December. As it comes from the head of sales, I can safely say that this is the most concrete piece of info that has come out.
This will turn out to be a fantastic end of the year if the prices are stable and not too high. I already know where my year end bonus will be going. Do you feel the same?
