As days go by, I’m more and more inclined to believe that I’ll never be able to revive my Galaxy S2.
I’ve been looking around but I still cannot make up my mind on whether I should get a new phone or keep holding on to hope that my S2 can be revived. It has been more than a week that my S2 has entered into a dealer for a fix quotation but until now, I have yet to have any news. I think I will give them till early next week. If there’s still no news, I will politely request that they return my phone or buy it off me and I will go about getting myself a new phone.
If and when it comes to that, my current choices are – Galaxy S3 – I9300, HTC One X or HTC One S. I am leaning more towards S3 due to the fact that it supports microSD card, uses the beautiful AMOLED screens, has the familiar menu, home, back keys and that Samsung devices generally receives better development support from the community (although that’s starting to change after some CM developers got pissed at Samsung’s poor support). Add to the fact that I can get a Galaxy S3 for less than RM1800 (RM1699 before adding in credit card surcharge and delivery cost). Yes, HTC’s One X and One S can be had for RM100 and RM200 less respectively and their specs are pretty good. However, lack of microSD card support and the unfamiliarity with their layouts doesn’t really appeal to me much. Add to that, my whole family are Samsung device users (Galaxy Y, Galaxy Ace, Galaxy S2, Galaxy S2G, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Tab 8.9), I am more inclined to go with a Samsung phone.
I do wish that the rumored next Nexus phone was already launched and on its way over to Malaysia. I’ll be honest that if there was a new Nexus phone within a month’s time, I will wait for that and provided that the specs isn’t worse than a Galaxy S2, I could easily see myself getting it. However, so far there are a few rumors of its existence but I fear that there is nothing concrete or solid enough for me to make a decision on. If my S2 can be revived, even temporarily, I will gladly use it for now while waiting for the next Nexus phone to be launched. Either way, it seems like this is the end (or nearly the end) of my journey with a Galaxy S2.
There are many readers out there who read my blogs on my S2 modem testing and I appreciate all your readership. I only regret not being able to test a few of the newer modems. Hopefully, my Galaxy S2 can be revived and it can allow me to do those tests (and on JB too). Still, I do apologize for the lack of any ROM reviews or modem tests for the past week or so. I’m currently on my Samsung Wave (bada 2.0) which is really nothing compared to the power of even a Galaxy Ace. A bada phone cannot hold a candle to an Android powered phone.
Here’s to hoping that I will get news about my Galaxy S2 soon enough to allow me to make a decision either way.
Bro you’ve done great… wait for s2 news first.. set a duration on how long i can wait… give it a month i guess?
Don’t give up yet
