The Norwegian branch of Samsung has announced via Facebook that the eagerly awaited Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), which is Android 4.0, will be available in March. This is inline with their promise last year to release the ICS update for Galaxy SII in Q1 of 2012.
However, they do not say (or at least I haven’t found anything that says) whether the Galaxy SII update will be available for Galaxy SII I9100G as well as I9100 or is it just the Galaxy SII I9100 which will be getting the update. Many users in Malaysia would be eagerly awaiting for this piece of info as many buyers of Galaxy SII in Malaysia are having the I9100G variant.
Popular custom ROM developer team, Cyanogen Mod, currently do not support Galaxy SII I9100G ROMs which has left the owners of Galaxy SII I9100G unable to get a taste ICS while Galaxy SII I9100 owners have been treated to some preliminary but usable CM9 which is ICS flavored. The latest release of CM9 as of this writing is 01292012.
