Sorry for the late update. I have had quite a busy week preparing passdown documentations, filing my income tax and work. Only 21 working days left in my current company before I head to my new company and my new job. But that’s for a separate post. Here, we are going to focus on Liverpool’s match this weekend against Newcastle.
Liverpool have been strong at home, winning matches and keeping clean sheets. Last week’s 5-0 destruction of Birmingham shows this (although part of that may have been due to Foster being injured). Kuyt, Meireles and Suarez have proven to be at the front line of Liverpool’s attacks and Suarez in particular have been outstanding even when he doesn’t get on the score sheet. If Carroll is fit to play, he will face off against his old club and that usually warrants a look at. Players do (somehow) have a tendency to score against their old clubs. For the record, Liverpool won four of the last 5 home games, drawing only once.
For Newcastle, they have not had a good run of results, winning only once in their last 5 away games, drawing two games and losing two games. However, do not take any credit away from Newcastle as they do have some good players in the likes of Barton and Nolan. However, they do have a tendency to concede goals while not scoring many away from home. Based on the Newcastle’s poor away record and poor form at the moment, I do believe that Liverpool will be able to win this match. However, Liverpool is coming off a huge win which may place some players in a state of over confidence. And this can be dangerous as Newcastle can take advantage of the lack of concentration which follows over confidence.
There will be goals in this match and the win for Liverpool will boost their chances of taking fifth away from Tottenham. I say that Liverpool will win this match 3-1.
For YFF players, do keep in mind that next week will see a double game for Tottenham and Man City so you might want to look at some Man City players for this week since they host West Ham (which is not a difficult match in any way) and next week. Tottenham players may also be worth getting since next week they host Blackpool (which should be a sure win for them) before traveling to Man City.
