It has been a while since I was last posted. So sorry for that. I have been busy over the Chinese New Year period. Liverpool has had some ups and downs during this period. The highlight of this period is their 1-0 victory against Chelsea. A marvelous achievement no doubt. I have to admit that it was not a result that I had expected. Yet, it was a result that I am greatly proud at.
In chronological order, here are Liverpool’s past few results.
Chelsea 0 – 1 Liverpool
Liverpool 1 – 1 Wigan
Sparta Prague 0 – 0 Liverpool
Meireles scored against Chelsea and gave Liverpool an unforgettable night in which Torres failed to shine in his debut. Against Wigan, Meireles scored yet again, continuing his red hot scoring streak. However, Liverpool let slip a goal, ending their clean sheet record of 4 games. This game was a game that I had expected them to win. Instead of the game against Chelsea.
Their European adventure ended in a draw as well, but an away game in which they did not concede, it wasn’t a bad result. In the return leg, we should be able to score and proceed to the next stage.
In the next Premier League game, Liverpool travel to West Ham before they entertain Man U back at Anfield. I think Liverpool has a good chance to win at West Ham especially given Meireles’ rich form in the Premier League. Man U’s visit is a little worrisome to be sure. While Man U have had their unbeaten dream ended, they are still pretty much the top club in the Premier League this season. Liverpool might be having a revival at the moment but I still dare not dream of a victory. I hope that Liverpool can at least get a draw against Man U.
My predictions for Liverpool’s next 2 games:
West Ham 0 – 2 Liverpool
Liverpool 1 – 1 Man U
As long as Liverpool continue their good form and win against the lower clubs, I see no reason that they cannot finish their season in a respectable 7th or 6th. Once Carroll returns to fitness and forms a strike partnership with Suarez, the force of Suarez, Carroll, Gerrard and Meireles combined can be formidable opposition for any team in the Premier League.
