Two biggest transfers lit up the last day of the winter transfer window. They both concern Liverpool. Torres out to Chelsea for 45-50 million while Andy Carroll moves to Liverpool in a deal worth 35 million. Are they good or bad?
Post to be updated once I’ve digested the implications a little.
Update: After having some time to think it over, I believe that Liverpool was right to sell Torres. It is simply pointless to keep a player who no longer has the heart to play. However, buying Carroll for a reported 35mil is a little too much I think. No doubt that he has the quality, but I would have preferred that the 40mil + Anelka deal had gone through. This is because it would leave Liverpool with significantly more money to invest in other positions, namely, left back.
Still, I think that Liverpool did well in this transfer window to bring in two strikers of repute.
Hopefully we will continue to do well against Stoke. A hattrick of wins and cleansheet will be awesome.
