After Liverpool rejected two bids from Chelsea for Torres, he shocked us all by putting in a transfer request. Dalglish rightly rejected his request as well seeing as how he is one of the key players for Liverpool to have any hope of climbing back up the table and staying in the top 7 positions. Torres is said to be looking for Champions League football and I fully understand his desire as a player to play in the top most competitions he can.
Chelsea is currently said to be putting together a 40 million pound bid plus Daniel Sturridge to lure Liverpool to sell Torres. The timing cannot be worse as Liverpool is on the brink to secure Suarez and the fans would have hoped to see both in action and not just either. Furthermore, Chelsea already has Anelka, Drogba, Kalou, Malouda and Sturridge who can play in their attacking threesome. They hardly need Torres. That is not to say that they have no place for Torres. A player of Torres’ quality will surely commend a first team position in any team and the same will be at Chelsea. I envision that Anelka and Kalou would be the ones who suffer (at least until Drogba retires) from Torres’ inclusion.
I do not think this deal/swap should go through. What do you think?
