First off, I apologize for this late update as I was out with fever and flu over the weekened. What a horrible way to start a new year but hopefully the year gets better from here on out.
50% of my predictions were on target last week. Let’s see which are those.
Liverpool narrowly won against Bolton after what was reported to be a “vastly improved second half”. The final result is as what I had predicted it to be. 2-1 to Liverpool. First Liverpool goal for Joe Cole and hopefully he will get more over his career (and this season hopefully). Hodgson might have gotten a little breathing space but he should not be fooled. Despite his apologies, I doubt that many Liverpool fans have started accepting him. Many feels that he needs to go. Do you share that feeling?
Tottenham vs Fulham is another match that I correctly predicted. Gareth Bale scoring yet again. He really has been in wonderful form hasn’t he? Good win to Tottenham and despite their away loss. Fulham proves to be good at keeping their goals conceded away from home to a minimum so far.
Chelsea vs Aston Villa was an unexpected 6-goal thriller (and I only predicted 2 goals for the home side. Sheesh) which has them drawing a game at home. Their defensive records took another hit, conceding 3 goals at home. Surely Arsenal fans are thinking that they can win the midweek match that is to come?
ManCity vs Blackpool was low scoring. I predicted a 3-0 victory but they ended it with 1-0. Oh well, at least I correctly predicted a win. My team didn’t do well this week though.
Wayne Hennessey scored me 2 points despite losing the match and conceding 2 goals. He made enough saves to get a positive result. I bought him in before his price hike but I should have went for Robert Green who had a massive 20 points for slightly higher price.
Hutton, Cole, Stearman combined for a glorious 4 points. Ugh!
Barton, Malouda and Van der Vaart did reasonably well in midfield while Silva scored badly.
Balotelli was a no show while Elmander and Kalou combined for 6 points.
My total: A grand 45.5 points. Could have been at least 18 points more if I had went for Green. Oh well.
